It’s probably the dominant form of selling in consumer products. In consumer products, we know it is a low touch selling environment.

It also helps create “micro promotions” which are useful for motivating people, especially those who are early in their careers. A recoverable draw makes more sense if your sales rep is taking over an established territory where brand name helps close 80% of the business. This fluctuates between markets, regions etc.

I’m in Denver, Colorado. So we now have three regions, overlays, channel sales managers on the West, central and East along with a dedicated channel sales engineer that has been with us since 2013 but we moved them into a new role in January. I recognize them and their team, the regional team, when they close an opportunity.
