There are two reasons you might need a transformation in sales. The first is that you are not meeting your sales goals. Even though this is the most common reason a transformation is necessary, most sales leaders will try to make a small number of changes that are unlikely to produce better results.
The average door-to-door salesperson makes about $22.90 per hour (or $47,622 a year). This can vary significantly depending on how good a salesperson is at their job. Door-to-door sales can be a great way to make money, but it’s not without challenges. It isn’t for everyone, and you need to know what you’re doing if you want to succeed.
Ethics are important in any area. In a sport, we want to know if someone is cheating. In a treatise or scholarly paper, we want to know that the content is original and not plagiarized. In sales, ethics is equally as important. Why is this such an important subject? When a sense of morality and ethics begins eroding in a society, people start to feel pressure to walk away from principles.
Yeah, this is a rough way to start a blog post… A tough accusation. Unfortunately, I think it’s well earned by too many. I don’t think we consciously commit to doing just good enough, I suspect it’s a gradual process that impacts so many of us. Some of it is understandable–though still not acceptable. Without a doubt, we face more turbulence, complexity, volatility, and uncertainty than we have ever experienced.

You might believe you have ideas, but the reality is that ideas have you. This is the nature of memes, as Richard Dawkins described in his explanation of how ideas spread. Ideas jump from person to person, like viruses. Sometimes, an idea can capture us, especially when it offers an attractive shortcut or when it taps into our fears. The following viruses infect sales leaders and sales managers, becoming their unseen puppet masters and making it harder for them and their teams to succeed.
A new quarter is upon us, and it’s time to strategize on how you can make this one even better than the last. Often, sales leaders know where their sales team falls short – but it can be a challenge to identify the root of these problems and determine what action will have the greatest impact in solving them.
Technology has given sellers so many ways to connect with buyers, yet prospecting is only getting more difficult. Why? The answer is that technology has also given buyers more independence. It’s easier than ever for buyers to evaluate purchasing decisions independent of sellers. This means that by the time the seller has their attention, the buyers already have a fixed idea of what they need.

As sellers, we are obsessed with efficiency. It’s no surprise, we have more demands on our time than we have time to fulfill those demands. We constantly seek better ways to accomplish more. For decades, technology continues to offer ways to improve our efficiency (and every once in a while, our effectiveness–but that’s a separate post).
Those of us who are Enneagram Eights tend to be negative and angry, but we also tend to get big things done—for better or worse. A short list of Eights you might recognize includes Martin Luther King, Jr., Winston Churchill, Fidel Castro, and Saddam Hussein. Part of your personality is nature, and part is nurture. However, humans are malleable, allowing us to transcend both nature and nurture—if we put in the work.
Google today announced a new “standalone product token”, Google-Extended, that lets you control whether Bard and Vertex AI can access the content on your site. This seems to be the end result of a “ public discussion ” Google initiated in July, when the company promised to gather “voices from across web publishers, civil society, academia and more fields” to talk about choice and control over web content.
Many small businesses across the country are finding it hard to find employees. Not only is finding employees challenging, but keeping them is proving difficult. If you need loyal employees to see your small business thrive, you must take steps to make employees feel appreciated and appropriately compensated. Evaluating types of health insurance plans , retirement options, and other benefits can help you find the programs for your team.
Today’s buyers expect more than generic outreach–they want relevant, personalized interactions that address their specific needs. For sales teams managing hundreds or thousands of prospects, however, delivering this level of personalization without automation is nearly impossible. The key is integrating AI in a way that enhances customer engagement rather than making it feel robotic.
When I started to write this post, I typed, “Is it a good use of their time?” Suddenly, I realized the mistake I was making. We are constantly making choices based on time. Often they are poor choices, though we usually don’t intend them to be so. Often unconscious, we just stop paying attention. But we attempt to make purposeful choices about how we invest our time This is what all the self-help books preach, and this is what we try to do to achieve our goals.
From win rates and quota attainment to prospective clients’ opinions of salespeople, all the important KPIs in B2B sales have collapsed all at once. At one point, technology held exciting promise for our industry. Now, it is ubiquitous and banal.
Cognitive bias can be at the root of some of the sales industry’s most frustrating problems. Customers who choose a more expensive solution, even though yours is better, and more cost effective. Buyers who choose the popular solution, even though yours is more suitable.

Do you genuinely care about the people you are prospecting? Do you genuinely care about your customers? Do you genuinely care about your colleagues and peers? Do you genuinely care about your people? Do you genuinely care about what you are doing? I receive calls and outreaches from dozens of people a day. My inbox is filled, my social channels have dozens of, “Can we connect/meet” requests, my phone rings with calls from people/locations I’ve never heard of.
A person with a title that gives them the authority to make a buying decision will receive dozens of emails, several voicemails, and the occasional phone call. All of these communications There is no doubt all these communications can be overwhelming and bothersome, but what is worse is their content.

“Pretty much everyone knows we’re using clicks in rankings. For as long as anyone can remember, salespeople open a first meeting with a ploy to create credibility. To execute this tactic, the salesperson will start the conversation by talking about their company. It was thought that the customer would need to trust the company to buy from them. Because this might not always be enough, the salesperson would talk about their happy clients, adding additional proof.
Would you believe there are some companies that attribute at least 20% of their earnings (before interest and taxes) to their use of artificial intelligence? What do these leading AI companies know that you don’t? It’s a question worth exploring. Many companies are meandering through the strategy phase of AI, especially gen AI, and are focused on defining a vision that aligns with their business.
Google stunned the PPC community after openly admitting to quietly adjusting ad prices to meet targets. The confession comes eight years after Google Ad executive Jerry Dischler denied the search engine manipulates ad auctions at SMX Advanced in 2015. The backtracking has infuriated digital marker Greg Finn – so much so that he now believes advertisers should consider leaving Google.

( This is the second in a series about how generative AI is impacting marketing. The first part is The rise of generative AI.) Without words to provide context, our images and videos wouldn’t have the meaning we all so desperately crave. Our content often revolves around words — from calls-to-action to product descriptions to social posts — marketers rely on language to tell a story.
